problem with recent upgrade to XP from Windows 98...
when initiating computer operation the BLACK screen
appears with MS Windows XP-Home label... nothing else
....but the XP program finally does open 3+ hours later
with the display of my desk top icons...
we tried disconnecting individually and then in pairs:--- -
--the printer --keyboard --mouse --speakers --telephone
finally leaving only the monitor and the computer.......
we tried duplicating this effort using a different power
circuit and similarly with different power cords.
we tried using a different monitor with different cords
BUT same old problem... BLACK screen with MS Win XP logo..
We even brought to computer shop... they had success in
their shop... but it would not replicate on my desk?? HELP
....three hours are much too long to wait--Thank You

Start by placeing the XP CD in the Drive, when the setup screen appears,
select "Check System Compatibility."

Be sure all your drivers are up to date, check the device manufacturer's web
sites for updates, do not rely on Windows Update for this.
