can some one explain me why I can't see the contents of
any cd that I put in my cd drive? I have installed XP
newly. I have removed my existing cd read device and
installed new cd read/write.

If you usded packet writing software, that is you used drag and drop to move
the files to CD, this is not natively supported by XP and requires the
installation of packet writing software such as the Direct CD Component of
Easy CD Creator, www.roxio.com or the InCD component of Nero, www.nero.com.
If you are going to install either, be sure you install a version compatible
with XP and your CD-Writer, that information is available at the above web
sites.

Hi Chan,

Does the CD drive itself show in Windows Explorer at all?

Hi,

Does the drive spin up when a disk is inserted?
Have you tried hitting F5 to refresh the view?
