Why, when I'm in the middle of writing a letter using MS
Word, do I suddenly get a runtime error message that
says "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" with a check
box containing the word OK. If I click on the OK or on
the "X" in the upper righthand corner, I lose the in-
process letter and must start all over. How can I fix
this??

A few things can cause this. one is a virus so I suggest the first thing you
should do is make sure your antivirus definitions are up to date and then
run a virus scan.

Another cause can be com add-ins, check the following:

http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Customization/CheckIfAddinsInstalled.htm

While your problem is not in opening or close Word, the following relates to
such messages in that regard and may be revealing as to your own issue:
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm

If the above doesn't resolve it, go to the following link and post your
question to the word.application.errors board:
