Fax cancels out modem until I reboot

When I receive or send a fax, my modem no longer works until I reboot. There
has got to be a fix for this. Please let me here from whoever knows how to
fix this, so they both work without re-booting.

Please make sure your modem is in the HCL (Hardware Compatibility List) for
Windows XP.

We have seen similar problems with some modems not in HCL.

If your modem is an external modem, try switching it off and ON and try. You
may also give a try restarting the fax service using Start Menu > Programs >
Administrative Tools > Services.
