Hi,

Just an update, thanks for your comments so far, but...

I have disabled all the options for live update in NAV,
but it still continues to popup.

When I boot XP, it is in my list of processes, so it must
be a service. I have stopped the service but still it
continues to pop-up.

I know its a good idea to have anti-virus software but I
don't need it on this particular machine as it is never
connected to the Net and I don't use it for email.

I just want Live Update stopped. If nothing else works
then I'll have to uninstall it.

Thanks Philip

Hi Phil,

Did you happen to check the scheduler in control panel, performance
and maintenance, scheduled tasks?

The answer to your question is simple: If your machine never uses the net,
and you are not worried about viruses, uninstall Norton Antivirus, or Live
Update. Live Update is a separate program from Norton Antivirus. NAV should
continue to work with LiveUpdate uninstalled, if you choose to continue to
use Norton Antivirus.

However, I advise against uninstalling Norton Antivirus, since there will
still be danger of virus infection if you get a virus on another machine,
then do a file operation between that machine and the machine which has no
Antivirus installed.

By the way, have you de-selected pertinent options in Live Update?
Specifically "Enable Live Update", and "Notify me of Norton Antivirus
Program Updates"?
