My programs arent in the menu

Dear all
I upgraded to XP from 98 se and all of my programs didnt
transfer matter of fact none did is this commen and if not
can I fix this. I also lost several mp3 files and some
video that I had on the desktop.I have found the folders
but they are empty now Someone please help me

There may be an easy solution for this: check the WINDOWS folder for
subfolders DESKTOP and START MENU. If you can find the items here,
move them to your user folder under C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS.
