Have installed XP professional on my hard drive but can
not see to get any of the installed programs to run? is
there a quick way with out re installing?

Did you upgrade or do a clean install?

In that case you need to re-install all your applications because the
install puts entries into the registry, which is on the new drive.

yes that should work. But backup your W98 data (docs, mail etc) first, and
run the Upgrade Advisor to make sure that your installed programs are
compatible.
