Deleted File

I deleted a file in a server location on my XP run
computer and I need it back but can't find it.

If you delete a file/folder via the network the data is usually lost
because it will not go into the Recycle Bin. You could go for a data
recovery software to check if the file can be recovered on the Server.

Hi Chris -

The accidentally lost file might still be recoverable. First . . . if
possible, avoid doing anything on your server that would cause
anything to be written to the disk where the file used to reside.

Second, go to http://www.undelete.com/downloads/menu.asp and look for
the Deleted File Analysis Utility download. Get this utility --
preferably download it from another computer and copy it onto a floppy
disk, to avoid writing to the disk where the lost files were.

Third, run the Deleted File Analysis Utility to see which files can be
recovered. If the utility comes up with positive results, you can
recover the files with Undelete from Executive Software (available at
www.undelete.com).
