Printing from dos

I have a customer who needs to print from dos. I tried
using the net use lpt1
\\computername\sharename /persistent:yes. It does not do
anything except give me an error.
One pc is trying to print to a printer hooked up to
another pc. The printer is shared and the other user has
administrative control of the pc.
