I have a Compaq Presario Pentium 4 PC running on Windows
XP SP1. A few weeks ago my HPdeskjet 722C printer stopped
communicating with the PC LPT1 Port. I have tried a
system restore back to a date before the problem began.
This did not work. I have a Gateway 2000 laptop running
Win 95. I removed the parallel cable from the Compaq and
installed the cable on the laptop then using the same
printer I was able to print. I need help in setting up my
fairly new PC and get it to communicated with the printer.
Thank you

First do a total uninstall and reinstall of the printer using the
instructions at

See if it cures the problem.
