Mail notification at log in screen

How the heck to I turn off that annoying message at the
log in screen that tells me I have unread messages?? I've
read the message (turns out it's junk) then tried
deleting the msn account but it won't go away?? I'd
really like to delete the passport as well as I hate
using Microsoft e-mail stuff, earthlink have just
relaesed a better e-mail service :)

In the Logon section, you can turn this feature off.
