I bought a new PC with a preloaded image of Windows XP
Professional. There is so much additional garbage from the
manufacturer that I dont want. I want a clean install of
just windows XP, but the manufacturer does not provide an
install CD. Where can I get this CD?
Thanks in advance.

Hey richp,
You mean that whoever you bought from, they didn't provide you with the
original Windows Xp CD? If not, you should contact them immediately and find
out why they didn't give you the Windows Xp CD.
Most computers today should come with the original version of Windows Xp
with an original CD-Key.
Good Luck!

Jose Francisco

Many OEM suppliers are not supplying a Windows XP CD,
and even the ones who do usually just supply a "restore" CD.
Many of these will usually just put your computer back into the same state
as it was delivered from the factory.
Off hand, I do not know of a single computer manufacturer that actually is
giving an XP CD.
If there are any left, I'm sure some one here knows which ones.

That's what I figured.
There are several things you could do.
If you can find someone who has the OEM version of XP,
you could make a copy of their CD and use your serial number.
If you did this, you would have to make sure any drivers that would be
needed could be downloaded from IBM.
Your other option would be to purchase another copy.
You can get an OEM version of XP pro for around $140.00 US.
Or you could get the full version, but it costs considerably more.
Myself, I would try to find someone else with a CD to copy.

You are wrong Jose. The OEM will have a mass license from
Microsoft to install the OEM copy of XP to their systems.
They should then provide a "recovery" disk for
emergencies. This may or maynot be a full XP disk. Good
luck.

Actually you can get a retail upgrade version of Windows XP Pro for that
price at some retail outlets - Microcenter, for example. That's a better
choice than an OEM version.

What model?

Where did you hear that? I was just in one of their stores yesterday, there
was much customer activity, they are still selling the XP Pro package for
$150 after rebate, and there is plenty of inventory.

Bankruptcy comes in many forms, Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 for
businesses. Chapter 7 means you go out of business.
Chapter 11 means your creditors have to stop asking for
their money and the court sets a repayment schedule.
Chapter 11 keeps you open...
Private people use Chapter 7 and Chapter 13, very similar.

I already knew that, and it wasn't in response to what I asked.
