My system has XP pre-installed, no CD was provided. How can I add other XP
features, e.g. the XP backup feature does not seem to be installed, I've
read
that this is on the CD, but I don't have this.
Anyone had a similar problem?

Generally if the OEM doesn't provide a CD to restore the operating system,
there is a partition on your hard drive to restore it. That restore
partition may or may not contain such features as backup. You can try
Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and click on "Add/Remove Windows
Component". You might have Backup there. If not contact the OEM who provided
the computer.

Hope this helps,
Milt

....and that is why OEM versions of an operating system costs less - because
it has less. My advice to Tony and others is, if possible, do not settle for
anything but a retail version.

My OEM version is a full version. It costs less because Microsoft
does not have to pay someone to answer ludicrous inane questions.

I'm afraid you are incorrect. No OEM version has as much freedom to be
installed on ANY computer as does the retail versions - not to mention that
you must consult with the PC manufacturer for any OS questions. Some OEM
versions are even tightly tied to the BIOS, making them impossible to be
installed on anything else.
