how do u delete items from the pop down menu on the
desktop tab in the control panel?...i need to get rid of
some of the old items on it...thanx

I assume you are talking about background images in the list of
pictures to choose from. Those are image files stored on your hard
drive. The name you see in the list is the name of the file either as
a bmp or jpg. Easy way is to use the search tool in XP to search for
files with those names. A little more efficient is to know where that
list of images is compiled from. It comes from bmp and jpg files in
\windows, \windows\web\wallpaper and "\documents and settings\<user
name>\my documents\my pictures". Remove the files from those locations
and they will no longer appear in the list on the of background images
on the desktop tab of display properties.
