I can't get my printer to print (HP laserjet 4100). I
bought my computer with Windows ME and recently cleaned
my harddrive and installed a new version of Windows XP
(not just the upgrade). I erased everything on the hard
drive before re-installing.
I've tried:
1)making sure all printer drivers were erased, including
going up into the control panel and stoping and starting
the spooling (recommended in a previous post)
2)checked my LPT1 driver, uninstalled, and re-installed
it making sure it was recognized inthe BIOS
3)tried connecting to a different type of printer (Epson)
and it wasn't recognized
5) With the same Epson, I conected through a USB port
and the printer was recognized
4) Tried the laserjet printer on another computer through
a LPT1 port that came with WindowsXP installed. When
plugged in Windows recognized it instantly and I was able
to print (rules out cable/printer problems)
Any ideas. Should I re-install the Windows XP from
scratch? Should I re-install Windows ME?
Any help would be appreciated
