View Full Version : Icon problems

I've run into a problem that has me perplexed. Recently I
had an issue with Photoshop and was asked by their
support to uninstall and reinstall Photoshop. Things work
fine now but all .psd files now show generic icons and
cannot be made to show their thumbnails. Since I do a lot
of graphic work it has become difficult to visually
acquire a file. I've tried TweakUI to refresh icons, and
I've gone to Properties>Opens with but none have done
anything. Even resaving the files hasn't had any effect.

Any ideas out there?

Curt,

Go to control panel > file options
select the file type tab
when the file .xxx types are listed (it may take a few seconds)
select .psd (or other appropriate file type)
click advanced
in the "Edit File Type" window,
select change icon
Choose the icon of your choice
The photoshop or photoshop elements icons should be in the same
directory as the executable.

Hope this helps.

Didnt' work for me. On the other hand I didn't find an
icon file along with the Photoshop.exe file.
Is it possible that it was removed and not re-installed?
