Despite having both auto complete ticked and asking
passwords to be saved they will not do this. Anyone have
any problems with this?
Thanks

Outlook Express keeps prompting for your password - Repair
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_oe_passwords.htm
This fix also applies to Outlook, other programs that store passwords=20
in the Protected Storage System Provider sub-branch of the Registry.=20
It also corrects some issues with Internet Explorer and AutoComplete.

Mike,
Download the the Auto-Complete , OE save password fix from here:
http://web14.compaq.com/falco/sp_detail.asp?SoftwareVer=17253
If you are unable to apply that fix, try the manual procedure here:
Your Outlook Express Password Is Not Retained in Windows 2000 or XP

Ramesh,
You don't even know that this person has a Compaq computer. Sending them to
a Compaq fix could screw up their system.

Glad to hear that Ramesh. Beats the heck out of manually adjusting the
Registry :)

Thanks Doug. I also request you review it if time permits.
Initially, I planned to develop this kind of tool with the VB registry acl
APIs. But, still in progress :)

I'd been working on that aspect, as well, but never managed to track down
the relavent code. There is a utility out there that will decrypt the
stored passwords, but I don't know how easy it would be to encrypt them, in
the same format.
The best of all worlds would be to read the structure, pull out the
username/password/server information and then wipe out the keys affected.
Then re-write the data :)
