Windows XP Pro login to Windows 2000 Server
I have an XP pro desktop with a username of John Smith and password of 123.
Also I have created this user on the Win2k server (no domain setup) and
added him to the group, "Database Authors". I created a folder named
c:\Alpha\Contacts and shared it with Everyone having full control and on the
security tab, have given Database Authors all but Full Control to the
folders contents.
The problem is that when the XP user logs on with the above
username/password to the workstation, he cannot access the contents of the
Contacts folder until he navigates to the UNC of the server in windows
explorer. Why doesn't the login credentials automatically authenticate as
needed?
Thanks
George
