I had an entry reading "USB Printer Support" in in the USB
Device Manager List of my computer control panel.
I made some changes in the printer set up (HP Deskjet
1220c connected to a USB port) and the entry disappeared
from the Device Manager list.
Now it looks like Windows XP has loaded the HP basic
driver and software and although I can print, the printing
capabilities are very Limited. Also, I can not access the
HP provided printing software even when it is shown in the
Programs folder.
My questions are:
1. Is the "USB Printer Support" an HP or XP program or a
driver? and,
2. Where can I find it again and how do I restore it?
Any info will be appreciated.

It's part of the printer drivers package.

Try a complete uninstall and reinstall of the printer...
