View Full Version : Minolta-QMS PagePro 1250W driver gives IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Robert

I installed WinXP Pro SP1 a few days ago, and had
everything working fine. However, whenever I try to
install the driver for my new Minolta-QMS PagePro 1250W
laser printer, it gives me a BSoD with the STOP 0xA
message IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. Things I've tried:
- downloaded latest drivers from Minolta's site (and
called them for help--I'm now impatiently waiting for a
call back)
- completely uninstalled the failed driver and even
restored the system to a previously good state
- as Minolta's support site suggested, I unchecked
the "Automatically restart on System failure" option in
My Computer -> Properties -> Advanced -> Startup and
Recovery -> Settings
- other printers are working fine - HP DJ 697C on LPT1:
(just like the laser printer), and a remote laser printer
at work
HELP! (Please reply via email if possible to rordonez at

Is the printer connected over USB? If so make sure the USB setting on the
system is USB 1.1 compliant. The printer interface supports only USB ver
1.1 (and parallel).
I did not have any problem using the setup.exe file that came with the
download. I did have some other problems with the language monitor and
print processor but this may be the result of not actually having the
printer attached to the system.
I was unable to reproduce the Blue Screen issue but the print driver from
the Minolta site most likely is not the problem. This most likely is
related to a kernel component having something to do with the way that the
printer is connected to the computer.

I also found this from Online Crash Analysis. The MLPTDR_C.sys file come
from Minolta if this is the one that's on the screen as the system fails.

Thanks for your reply.
I'm using the parallel connection (LPT1:), and I know
that part of the system works fine because I can print to
my HP DeskJet 697C via the same port. (And I'm
physically unplugging devices, not going through an A/B
switch or anything of the sort).
I'm now waiting for a call back from the Minolta software
team (since MS support said they can't help me because
it's not a supported piece of hardware, even though I
suspected that Minolta's driver wasn't at fault,
otherwise everyone would be clamoring). :( I'll post a
followup if I'm able to get the problem resolved, as it
appears that several others are having the same problem
(I've gotten several emails).

I'm not familiar with Online Crash Analysis . . . but
here goes anyway.
The error that's on the BSOD is a STOP 0x0000000A error,
with a message of IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. The other
parameters are 0xBAD0B16C, 0x000000FF, 0x00000000, and
0x80523912. Does that help you help me? I'm sure I can
recreate the error is there's other info on that screen
you would need in order to help me. Thanks!

When an application or the system crashes the system attempts to gather as
much information regarding the failure. When you are next online MS asks if
you would like to send us the data regarding the crash. When you have a
crash please send it to Microsoft so it can be analyzed and grouped with
similar failures.
The Minolta LPT driver has some problems. I am not sure if this is due to
the fact that you have a Minolta device and an HP device plugged into the
same parallel device.
There are not many failures associated with this driver so my guess is your
configuration is unique in some why. Make Minolta very aware that you have
two devices sharing the port. I do not know what this driver does.
