View Full Version : Printing from DOS under XP

I have a couple of programs I wrote with Quick Basic, which I still use
quite frequently. They run fine under 98se.

I figured out how to install them on the new laptop with XP and they run
fine but I cannot print. I get a Quick Basic error message. They print
fine when running under 98se.

I suppose I could go to dual boot but I am a bit frightened of that.

Can anyone advise ?

In XP, programs can't directly access the printer..

Dear Mr. Stuart_A. Grant,

you can simply print to a file and install Printfil on the XP workstation.
Printfil will take care of reading the print file and print it over the
local printer or any other Windows printer on the LAN.
In addition you can also obtain a graphical preview, choose the font,
change the margins, exporting the print job to a PDF file and many other
interesting things.

You can download a free Printfil trial at http://www.guolo.com/printfil .

If You need help on configuring it, feel free to write us.

Kind regards,
