New computer microsoft xt

I just purchased a new computer and printer which can fax
copy, scan and print. The problem is that every time i
push the button to copy or scan. A noise from the printer
goes on as if its running. The print status stays on 0%.
Finally, I hit cancel. I get a error message saying that
there is a microsoft error message. A10.exe
Does anyone know why? Please help.

Have you let it run without cancelling yet?.. scanners do make a noise in
operation..
