I have not had my pc long and have windows xp
i understand that my pc has a powerful processor
and lots of memory.
It also has geforce fx 128 agp x 8 and direct x9 for best
games support!!
I have a game "Actua Golf " (xp 26)
When I try to load this game I get this message
"THIS APPLICATION NEEDS AT LEAST 16MB OF FREE MEMORY
THERE IS ONLY -972MB OF FREE MEMORY. PLEASE FREE UP SOME
MEMORY BY CLOSING DOWN ALL OTHER APPLICATIONS"
I do not have any other applications running when I have
tried to load the cd Is there anything I can do to run
this game? I thought that the game could also be run
direct from the disc? but all I get is the above message
and nothing I do will load the game
Any idears anyone ?

A lot of installers have trouble when there are temp files left behind by a
prior installation. To avoid this:
Set Folder Options> View to show hidden and system files. Then go to
Documents and Settings\<your account>\Local Settings\Temp and delete all
files and folders that you find in this location. If Windows refuses to
delete one or two because they are in use, that's ok - just work around
them.
Also look in Windows\Temp and again delete anything you find here.
Then try the software installation again.

Hello Barry
try this go to start then to Run
type in the box msconfig
another window will open
click the button selective startup in the general tab
then go all the way to the right to the startup tab and click it
now you'll see a list of all the programs that are running when windows
starts.
only uncheck the ones you know that you do not need.
like Music Match or anything you know you don't need for windows startup.
don't uncheck it if you don't know what it is.
then click apply then ok and restart your computer.
