Installing printer drivers

I have a problem installing my HP 612c deskjet printer.
I am installing it to a Inspiron 4150 windows xp. The
problem is windows xp will not allow mtere to install/add
the printer or at least the correct printer driver - I
continuously get the error message "Printer Driver no
Installed. Access Denied" - it pops as the driver is
being downloaded/installed. The driver I am usingg is
the one that came with windows xp (the 612c is an older
printer circa '99) - No matter what I try I alwasy get
the same message. Does any one know what might be
causing this snag?

Not sure if this is ur problem but I think you have to have admin rights to
install printers.

I appreciate your reply - you are right you do have to
have admin rights - but I've already checked that and am

The only time I've seen that is when somebody got overzealous with the ACLs
on %windir%\system32\spool\drivers. Can you check you permissions in this
(and it's subdirectories) ? (As an admin, you always have the right to take
the permission, but you may not directly have permissions to begin with.)
