When I log into my computer, at the welcome screen it
shows under my user name, that I have 5 unread mail
messages. When you click on that it shows and i and
explains that these are at my hotmail account. Then when
going to the hotmail account to check mail, there are no
unread mail messages. How did I get rid of this
notification, as I don't want others to see this message
each time they come to the welcome screen, as it is my
email account.

Thanks for your help.

Hi

TWeakUI can do this for you. You can download TweakUI from

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

When installed go to Programs>Powertoys for Windows XP>Tweak UI - then =
go to Logon>Unread Mail - disable it in the right hand pane.
