Can anyone give me real simple directions on how to get
my printer (Lexmark 33) to print items in both black and
white and colour at the same time. This is just about
driving me nuts trying to figure it out. Any help would
be appreciated.

If your printer is set to print in color, it will print those objects that
are colored in a color as near as the printer can manage, and those objects
that are monochrome will appear as black and white..

Printers do not print "white" - they leave areas of the paper blank to
represent white. If you're printing on red paper, those areas will be red
instead of white.
If you have an item that is in color and you want it printed in black or
grayscale, use :
ONE TIME USE:
File> Page Setup> Printer> Properties and make the necessary selections in
your printer's properties (exact settings to mark vary from one printer to
the next).
CHANGE DEFAULT SETTINGS:
If you prefer to use this setting most of the time and only want to print
in color once in a while, use Control Panel> Printer and Fax Properties.
Right click on your printer, select Properties and setup your preferred
printing preferences.
