Basic Load Program

Howdy! I'm a relatively new user of XP and need some help on a very basic
action - loading a program. Neither my son, who is an ME and Linux user nor
I can figure out the basic process for an administrator account to load a
program and give a user account access to the program. Once in a while we
can do it right, but I think that's more a function of the program being
installed and/or luck than our doing it right. I have an OEM install, no
manual, and have been through the MS site trying to find the info, but
evidently I don't speak Microsoft. Anyone out there with a simpleton's
instruction to the above process, or to a MS URL providing the info will be
greatly appreciated.

Hi Chuck,

Your suspicion that the times it works are a function of the program are
basically correct. Some software is "aware" of the user profiles, some is
not. The ones that are generally can be installed under an admin profile and
provide for all users of the system. The ones that are not (usually older
software designed for use in the Win9x world) usually need to be installed
while logged on as the user (this can mean multiple installs to the same
program folder). This can also help:

Also, to install a program while logged into a limited account, right-click
the setup file, choose "run as" and enter the admin name and password.
