View Full Version : printer problem on XP network

I have been able to set up my home network (2 notebooks
and one desktop) so that all have internet access and all
can share files and folders.
All three computers are running XP (2 Professional and 1
Home) and I can share the printer connected to my desktop
with other computers. However, every time I try to print
from either of the notebooks, the document goes to the
printer on the desktop but then will not print-- it
spools onto the printer queue, is recognized as a Word or
Excel doc (or whatever), but then gives a message in the
status window "Error-Printing". I have no difficulty
printing from the desktop. Any suggestions?

I have the exact same problem. The printer is a HP
Laserjet 1200.
What files do I need to change permissions for?

I managed to sort this out by myself(I think). There is a
share called print$. I added the user Anonymous Logon and
gave this user the same permissions as a local user. Now
printing works, but have I created a gigantic security
hole by doing this?

What driver are you using? HP has 8 for the LJ1200 on the website just for
XP.
