View Full Version : Installing Windows XP from the C:// prompt

Purchased a laptop on line w/o an OS/////on startup,
computer shows a DOS page, with the C:// command prompt at
the bottom......

as not ezperienced with DOS, what do I type in after the
C://, to direct the computer to the D drive to open up the
installation CD ??

You can't start the install from DOS. your Windows XP CD-ROM is bootable,
set your BIOS to boot from the CD-ROM drive. or you can download boot
floppies to start the install.

Windows XP Bootdisk Sets (Choose with or without SP1 depending on your CD)
