You are a good candidate for a System Restore. I had a bad
result from an update myself. System restore takes you
back to the software you had before the download. Your own
files, settings, etc are not changed. You can turn around
and undo the restore with one click! (if you want)
I use Start -- Help and Support -- type in System Restore
Wizard, and follow the prompts.
For best results, choose a Restore to date you are SURE
was before the update. Any software you have installed
after the restore to date will need to be reinstalled.
Check for your problem after you Restore, and after each
application is reinstalled, just in case the problem is
not update-related.
Those dang drivers in my most recent automatic download
caused my problems. Have been advised on another MS forum
for newbies to READ the description of the files before
downloading (unless critical). No need to download most of
the noncritical updates.
Good Luck
