system lock

I have windows xp home edition on my desk top. When
shoting it down it froze, at reststart message came
saying system lock. I can't use my printer how do I
unlock it.?

Is that at the logon screen? after booting the system in Safe Mode. Try
administrator no password.

If this message is before XP loads you need to talk to the person who
password protected the computer.
