How can I install Active Directory (users and computers)
in Windows XP. The adminpack.msi on the windows 2000
server cd doesn't work. Any suggestions?

You need to run a server OS to do that. XP is a client OS not a server OS.

This is not correct.
You can install the AD administration tools on an XP workstation be
downloading the server 2003
adminpak.msi from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&familyid=D232
