Hi,

Recently, when I tried to restore my computer to its earliest state using
Windows XP Restore, my computer was restored to a point well after the
earliest state, despite my making sure to set restore points whenever I
installed programs (if the computer had not done so automatically.

I'd much appreciate any advice as to what might have gone wrong.

Sincerely,

So, you went to System Restore's first screen, clicked 'Next',

you then clicked iether/orboth of the backward arrows at the top of the two
panels,
thus takeing you to the date you wanted (or as far as it would go), then
clicked 'Next' again.

or did you just click 'Next' (without using the backward arrows on the
boxes)

Sorry if I'm well off beam, but have to check what might be obvious.
