I have several problems using a HP laserjet 3330 printer with Win XP
pro.I have no problem printing or copying.
The first problem is that the Hpfaxupload.exe starts taking up 98 to
99% CPU time. The computer slows down to a crawl.
I have to "end process" on it.
Second when I log off, restart or turn off computer, several HP
processes[HPdirector.exe] take a while to turn off. There is the "wait
window" where I can click "end now".
What to do, what to do?

Uninstall and reinstall your printer correctly and completely.
http://www.coribright.com/windows/Article%20One.htm
The latest drivers for XP are included with XP and the Status Monitor (to be
installed AFTER the printer is installed) is at the Epson website.
After the uninstallation, reboot the PC, use the Add Printer Wizard to add
the printer and do NOT connect until the software tells you to do so.
