When I turn on my computer (windows XP Home) it starts
going thru the process and then it stops and says press F1
to resume. It did not do this until a couple weeks ago.
Do not know why. Tried to cure by doing a "recovery" from
a month ago, but did not cure. Is there a cure for this?

This is not an XP issue. Its an issue with your computer's BIOS. This is
normally an indication of a piece of hardware failing, and it will usually
tell you what it is. Check your computer's manual for instructions on
accessing the BIOS. You're looking for the setting "Halt on........." This
tells the computer what types of hardware failures to halt for.
