I'm trying to install a printer that will use the
Generic/Text-only printer driver. But I can't find the
driver listed in the printer list (like it used to be for
all other Windows versions). Where can I find this
driver for Windows XP?

Manufacture: Generic
straight from ntprint.inf
[Generic]
"Generic / Text Only" = TTY.GPD
,GenericGeneric_/_Tex8040,Generic_/_Text_Only
"Generic IBM Graphics 9pin" = GENIBM9.GPD
,GenericGeneric_IBM_GD35A,Generic_IBM_Graphics_9pi n
"Generic IBM Graphics 9pin wide" = GENIBM9W.GPD
,GenericGeneric_IBM_GC7D5,Generic_IBM_Graphics_9pi n_wide
