Icons Disappeared on Desktop

My icons and taskbar disappeared on my desktop. I still
have the desktop theme showing but not the icons.

Please can someone help me resolve this issue?

Hit control-alt-del and end explorer task if running. Run a new task and
type in "explorer" without quotes. Desktop should be back to normal.
