opening Excel

I have a woman that tries to open some excel files from
shortcuts or from folders and it looks like it is opening
the files however, only the outside of excel windows is
visable. She has deleted the shortcuts and recreated
them. I have done detect and repair, have reinstalled it,
however, it is still doing it. She can open them when
opening up excel first and then opening the files from
the folders. Any suggestions?
