I have a DELL desktop that has both ME and Win2000
operating systems in a dual boot configuration. I would
like to upgrade to XP, replacing both operating systems
and eliminating the dual boot capability.

Can I do this with an upgrade XP license and without
destroying my registry?

You can do an upgrade, but it's not going to automatically merge the
partitions.

I'm not sure you can use an XP upgrade license. If your machine has a Dell
OEM version of the Microsoft operating system then I don't believe the XP
Upgrade will work - ask Dell. Other people have complained about that, but
that's the way it is. On the other hand if your existing operating system is
the Retail version then the upgrade will go over top of it properly.

I'd be sure about it before laying out money for the XP upgrade.

Good luck...
