epson photo 890 printer-wont work with sp2

Installed sp2 (second time, same problem)but epson
printer drivers are not recognised. attempts to use the
printer paralyse the whole system. task manager shows
100% cpu usage with 700+mb memory usage. a process
svspools.exe - in task manager appears at 98% of
processes but gets no further. i suppose theres a glitch
in the chain somewhere -but where? i cant find info
on "svspools.exe" I suppose its a bug in sp2 but can
anyone help.I guess its fdisk and a reinstall as the
machine is effectively unusable for its purpose.

Remove and then reinstall the printer per the Epson installation cd.
