I have information on disc in an old windows program I
would like to open. I have inserted the disc and opened
but windows XP doesn't want to read it. Is there a
conversion which would allow me to retreive these files
from my disc?

erm old Windows and Windows XP are both operating systems and you shouldn't
need to move things between them.
If you are trying to open a data file, that's another matter and you need to
have the appropriate software on your machine with XP to be able to open
that particular type of file, e.g. MS Word. Give us a clue - what type of
information is on the disk and more help might be available?

It would help to give the name and extension of the file.
You can do a Google search for "file extension" and will be
able to find a list of which programs open which types of
files.
For instance...
..doc WORD
..wps WORKS
..xls EXCEL
There are hundreds of possible file types that can be opened
by hundreds of different programs. Some files can be opened
by more than one program, but often you need the exact
program or a converter for the program you have that comes
close.

What is the exact error message?
Is the computer reporting there is a physical or formatting problem with
the floppy disk, or is the computer reporting that it doesn't know what
program to run to view the file? Resolution of this depends completely
on the differences between these two situations.
