I have a Toshiba 2800 2805-S202 laptop. I want to upgrade
from Win ME to Win XP Pro. When I try, it hangs up during
the compatibility check and won't generate a report.
I have tried every step recommended in tech articles
318008, 305883, and 316639, and I downloaded the Win
Advisor software and ran it from my hard drive. Nothing
works! HELP!

Maybe the good lord is trying to tell you something.

I don't know about the good lord, but definitely Upgrade Advisor has
given you the answer. You just don't like it! The answer is that your
laptop is not a good candidate for upgrading to WinXP. Laptops are by
their nature proprietary in their hardware, drivers, and specialized
software provided by the mftr. Your laptop was designed to run ME, and
you should leave well enough alone. Sure, you can try XP, but there
will probably be tears before bedtime.
Cheers anyway,
Malke
