Help... I have shortcut keys assigned to some of my icons
on my desktop (i.e. ctrl + alt + d), but the program or
items it refers to doesn't open/activate for 7 seconds.
What's going on??? My computer is 1.4 GHz and I have 256MB
memory, Windows XP Pro, and an awesome video card. On
other computers, assigned shortcut keys activate the
shortcut immediately. There are no programs running in the
background that are hung-up, and there are no conflicts in
in device manager. I have all the updates as well.

Hi,

There may be no programs "hung", but one of them is taking priority over
your keyboard input. The delay is because another process has taken
priority. Start by disabling background applications, and AV programs are
the most suspect.
