When IE finds a website that uses Java it gives me a message saying I need
to download the JVM which, for obscure reasons, doesn't come with XP. I
click OK to download, it does something, then goes on to the MS website &
tells me to look in Windows update, where there are all sorts of patches &
updates but no mention of the infamous JVM.
Can someone please post the link where I can download it?
Many thanks.

Greetings --
As the result of a lawsuit by Sun Microsystems, and the resulting
settlement, Microsoft is no longer allowed to provide its own Java
Virtual Machine to Windows users. You can get almost the same
functionality by downloading Sun's version of Java from
http://java.sun.com/getjava/index.html. If you want the broader
capabilities of Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine, it is still
available from a lot of 3rd-party web sites, some of which are listed
here: http://www.java-virtual-machine.net/download.html.
