I currently have XP Pro and Office 2003. I would like to
remove outlook express for 2 reasons. 1) Free up the
space. 2) Don't like programs I don't use sitting on my
computer.

I know that a number of applications are tied to other
applications, is Outlook Express tied to anything? If
not, is it prudent to remove it?

You can make it look like it's removed by running Control Panel, Add or
Remove Applications, then pick Add or Remove Windows components.
Deselect Outlook Express.

It won't be removed from your hard disk (that's how they configured it),
but the icons will disappear and you'll feel better.
