XP & Outlook 97

This one's a real challenge.

Outlook 97 on Computer 1 has two mailboxes - one at
Bellsouth.net and another at Network Solutions. It pulls
the email from NetSol ok, but does not pull it from
BellSouth. The BellSouth folks could offer no solutions.
Of note, I updated all MS software (XP, Office, etc.) on
12/22 and it has not worked since then. Also, a reinstall
has not helped.

Outlook 97 on Computer 2 has two mailboxes - both at
BellSouth. Each one is able to retreive email. When I set
up the problem email account from computer 1, it still
does not pull.

Any thoughts?

NB: Outlook97 is very very old stuff, is unsupported, was extremely buggy
at release (hence the free upgrade to OL98 that was offered for a long
time). I don't know what updates you've run (the internet mail enhancement
patch??) but frankly, I would ditch 97 and upgrade Office if it were my
computer....

However - before going down that road, can you check the "problem" mailbox
at www.mail2web.com and open it there?

Progress.

I can now send and receive email without attachments,
after resetting some XP Services. Still cannot send email
with Attachements. Actually I have 98. Until this
episode, everything has been smoth saliling for the last
many years so saw no need to upset the apple cart.

OK - what happens when you try to send attachments - even small ones like
text files.....what error messages do you get? What SMTP server are you
using for outbound mail?
