Cannot Open Explorer Links that are in email messages

Whenever I receive an email, I am unable to click and open any links in that email. This just started occuring a few weeks ago. I have uninstalled PopUp Stopper and a recently downloaded Zone Alarm Free, but this hasn't helped. I have also followed the
advice in Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 281679. Does anyone else have this problem and if so how did you resolve it? Thanks.

1. You click on a hyperlink in and an IE window doesn't even open:

Installing the latest Cumulative Patch for IE may solve the problem as a
side-effect. Check in at Windows Update.

Get ToolbarCop and disable unwanted BHOs causing the problem:

ToolbarCop removes the Toolbars, Toolbar buttons, unwanted =
menu-extensions and Browser Helper Objects from Internet Explorer. It =
does not remove the spyware from the system entirely.

BTW, the pop-up stopper might be present in the form of a BHO. Eliminate =
it using Toolbarcop.
