View Full Version : Can't install xp

I'm trying to install XP on an old machine. It used to have Me on it.
Anyway, now the hard disk is blank. I have run Fdisk and formatted the disk.
For some reason, I can't get the CD to boot, even though I have a disk that
normally boots the computer. I think something is wrong in the Bios.
Usually, it lists the primary hard disk and secondary disc as the CD, but
when I go into the Bios it doesn't seem top recognize the CD as a drive.
Other than making six XP floppies, is there anything I can do?

Under the circumstances I doubt the install diskette set will work either.
If the CD drive isn't showing up the BIOS, then there's a hardware problem.
Either cable issue, jumper problem, CD drive problem, IDE controller
problem, power supply/jumper problem.
