Headset Problems

Hi,
When I use voice chat (Messenger 4.7), I have a repeat of
my own voice that repeats with approximately a 3 second
delay. I have no idea how to fix it. I am using
headphones and have had successful voice conversations
previously.
The other party I talk to, who has Windows 98, has the
problem of hearing his own voice in his headphones at the
same time he is speaking.
I would really appreciate some help with this.

The echo you are hearing is caused by the fact that your voice coming out of
the speaker on the other end is being picked up by the microphone on the
other end.

The easy solution is to have both parties use headphones instead of
speakers.
