I am really not sure whether my new problem lies with
Windows - or something else, but my system has
dramatically slowed down. My PC has a Celeron processor
with 1GB RAM, Norton Antivirus and Firewall - and had
been running extremely well - until about a week ago.
Programmes now seem to take an age to start up. Outlook
Express takes considerable time to download emails.
When I shut down the PC, I normally get messages saying
that programmes aren't respponding -
'CCAPP', 'MPWnd_Hooker', 'OEStoreCleanupThread'. I have
searched the hard drives for these files or programmes -
but without luck.
I tried goping back to a 10 day old old restore point
without luck. I tried to re-install WinXP - without luck.
I downloaded the patches after the re-install, and they
downloaded in minutes, but took hours to install.
I can't find anything in the start up folder that
shouldn't be there . I am now lost for ideas.
Can anyone please give me some help please.

In fact, I have searched on the google and I found many people, got the

same problems as me but don't find the right solution.

I just tried it by myself yesterday and spend the all day to figure it
out.

The solution is use
1. Click Start Menu>Run>Msconfig
2. Choose Services
3. Choose Hide All Microsoft service
4. Then you will find Remote HID Service by Animation Technology, Inc.,

disable this service.
5. Click Ok and restart
The result is no MPWnd_Hooker window shows up when I turn off the
computer.
And also resolve the problem that I have with ACDSee that working
slowler
than usual and always hang.

P.S. The suggestion of Malke is also good. The software that he
introduced
is good to try. I also used spy remover and spy stopper before trying
Spybot
- Search & Destroy, and Ad-Aware SE Personal. I think the result is
similar
except those 2 softwares of Infoworks are not free. I also recommend
all of
you that have problem with computer working slower than usual to use
TuneUp
Utilities 2004. It's trial for 30 days but in this trial period you can
take
benefit from it. It will help you a lot from temp files that have left
even
you delete it by disk cleaner and it will help you speed up your
system, your
memory and etc.

You can download all softwares I said above from www.download.com.
